THE CONSTANTS
How does the world keep spinning,
when time itself has frozen?
Why isn't there more quaking,
when the earth has just been shaken?
The world never feels like it's spinning,
on its axis in its endless dance.
You never think about the constants,
Taken for granted perchance.
Throw a pebble in the ocean;
the waves don't even tremor.
But throw it in a pond,
and the tremors go on forever.
Our lives are much the same,
on the grand scale of everything.
Still, our lives are much the same,
when we are each other's everything.
when time itself has frozen?
Why isn't there more quaking,
when the earth has just been shaken?
The world never feels like it's spinning,
on its axis in its endless dance.
You never think about the constants,
Taken for granted perchance.
Throw a pebble in the ocean;
the waves don't even tremor.
But throw it in a pond,
and the tremors go on forever.
Our lives are much the same,
on the grand scale of everything.
Still, our lives are much the same,
when we are each other's everything.
